Gold bars in Malaysia sit closer to the pure spot value of gold than jewellery or coins, since less craftsmanship goes into producing them. Larger bars, from 10g up to 1kg, generally carry a lower premium per gram, which makes them efficient if your main goal is maximising exposure to the gold price itself. Smaller bars, from 0.5g to 5g, cost more per gram but let you start with a smaller budget. Bars also tend to be the most straightforward format for buyback at gold shops and dealers. For global benchmark pricing, see the reference data published by the World Gold Council. Whichever size you pick, always verify the certificate and hallmark before paying.
